Business is Like the Ocean—Just Ride the Waves

You ever just sit and watch the ocean? The waves roll in, some big, some small. Some days, the water is calm, and other days, it feels like a storm. Business is kind of like that. You can’t control every wave, but you can learn how to ride them.

Sometimes, things just flow. Clients are coming in, sales are up, and you’re feeling like a genius. Other times? Crickets. You’re staring at your laptop, wondering if you made a huge mistake. And you know what? That’s completely normal.

Not every idea has to be perfect before you put it out there. If you wait for the “right moment,” you might miss it altogether. Just start. Adjust as you go. Some of the best businesses weren’t built with a flawless plan—they were built by people who took action and figured things out along the way.

And let’s talk about comparison for a second. It’s so easy to look at someone else’s success and think, “Why am I not there yet?” But here’s the thing—everyone’s riding a different wave. Some are further ahead, some just paddled out. Focus on your own journey. The only person you need to compete with is who you were yesterday.

Oh, and don’t forget to rest. Even the best surfers don’t chase every wave. They wait, watch, and move when the time is right. Same with business. If you’re always pushing, always working, you’re gonna burn out. Step back when you need to. The waves aren’t going anywhere.

At the end of the day, business isn’t about winning every time. It’s about showing up, learning, and trusting that the best waves are still ahead. Just keep paddling.
